Meet at the Phoenix Center for the Arts Friday night to join in a celebration of local artistic talent. Each year, the mayor awards artists in visual arts, theatre, music, dance, public art and creative writing based on his or innovation, impact and integration. There will also be a silent auction to support local artists and catering by Carly’s Bistro and Short Leash Rollover Donuts.
Arts and Letter Series: Isabel Allende

The bestselling author of twelve works of fiction, four memoirs and three young adult novels will come to the Orpheum Theatre this Friday to discuss her work with Arizona Poet Laureate Alberto Ríos. Her most recent book, The Japanese Lover, follows a young girl living in 1930s San Francisco who falls in love with a Japanese boy in danger of being forced into an internment camp.
Neil Gaiman’s Birthday Party
Gather with local sci-fi fanatics for a celebration of Neil Gaiman’s birthday. Artists and performers of all types will meet at Space 55 downtown for a night of “preludes and nocturnes, doll’s houses and neverwheres, and graveyard books and good omens.”
This coming Monday, November 23, check out some of downtown’s brightest talents at Lawn Gnome’s Pink Slip Open Mic, check out Holly Golightly at the Valley Bar and, while your there, hit up the free pool tables and dart boards.
